As we begin the 52 week challenge let’s ask a basic question: why do we study and memorize God’s Word? In Psalms 119 the Psalmist points out one of the key reasons: to avoid sin. How can we avoid sin if we don’t know what constitutes sin in God’s eyes? How can we follow God’s commandments if we don’t know what they are? How can we apply His teachings to our lives if we haven’t studied those teachings? The answer is simple….we can’t. God has given us His Word to help guide our daily lives…let’s fill our hearts and minds with His wisdom.

  1. This post was from David Jeremiah on Turning Points today. It fits well with your challenge.

It’s important to memorize Scripture in order to stand strong during life’s difficult circumstances. When you have Bible verses inscribed in your mind, you’re carrying a concealed weapon. You’re wielding the sword of the Spirit. Find a passage today and begin laying up His words in your heart.
