This coming Thursday we celebrate Thanksgiving. One of the many things we have to be thankful for is the opportunity to worship our Lord and Savior. Whether it be a small gathering of friends or a Sunday morning service at a church, Jesus himself said that He would be with us when we gather in His name. Psalm 100:4 reminds us that every time we enter into His presence, we should do so with thanksgiving in our hearts.
Psalm 100, subtitled a psalm “For giving grateful praise” in the NIV, provides a perfect way to close on this weekend before Thanksgiving. Here’s the whole psalm…the words will be familiar:
Psalm 100 (NIV)
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
