Theme: Giving & Stewardship

This week’s verse continues the theme from last week…that we “reap what we sow.” God expects us to share our blessings and to help those who are truly in need. But He also tells us that when we are generous and refresh others, then we will also be refreshed. Proverbs 19:17 is a good companion verse that expands on this thought: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
The image that accompanies this week’s post highlights Operation Christmas Child, which is a great example of putting Proverbs 11:25 into action. This week our church, like thousands of other churches, is collecting thousands of shoeboxes full of small gifts that will be distributed literally around the world to those less fortunate. This is just one of the many activities of Samaritan’s Purse, a charitable organization that seeks “to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.” Again, a great example of people giving generously and refreshing those who need to be refreshed…
