Theme: God’s Marching Orders
The context for this verse is wonderful. The people of Israel had just returned the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and they were celebrating. King David actually appointed a team for the sole purpose of singing praises to the Lord. Here’s what David ordered them to do:
Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. – 1 Chronicles 16:8
They were so excited, and so thankful, that they couldn’t help but sing praises to God. Our verse for this week is part of the song of praise they were singing. And their nation’s leader, King David, made it a national priority to honor God and thank Him for His goodness. What a wonderful example for all nations.
Our God is so good. His love for us, and the mercy He shows us, is never ending. We should thank Him for that, and we should sing praises to Him.
