Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, – Matthew 28:19 (NIV)
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: – Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
Theme: God’s Marching Orders
Knowing His time to ascend to Heaven was near, Jesus left final instructions for His disciples. It had been 40 days since His resurrection, and He had been traveling among the people to teach about God’s kingdom and show that He was indeed alive. Jesus asked His disciples (there were only eleven now) to gather at the Mount of Olives, and He told them this:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
Those were Jesus’s marching orders to His disciples, and they apply to us as well. His instructions were clear — we are to go forth and share the Good News. Hopefully the 52 verses we’ve studied this year will help us with that task. But notice that Jesus also left us with a promise — He will be with us always, even until the “very end of the age.”
Congrats for all who completed the 52 week challenge…the reward is eternal!
