Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. – Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. – Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV)
Theme: Priorities
Jesus himself called this verse the “first and greatest commandment” (see Matthew 22:37-38). Let’s take a look….
Moses had just given God’s Ten Commandments to the people of Israel (see Deuteronomy 5). He then urged the people to live according to God’s commands and, in doing so, to love the one and only God with everything they have—with all of their heart, with all of their soul, and with all of their strength—so that they, and their children, would enjoy long life and God’s blessings (Deuteronomy 6:1-5).
That’s God’s priority for us as well. God wants us to love Him with everything we have….our heart, our mind, our soul, our strength…every second of every day.
